CCRL
Computer Chess Rating Lists — independent rating lists for chess engines tested by a volunteer community.
What is CCRL?
The Computer Chess Rating Lists (CCRL) are community-maintained engine rating lists produced by a volunteer team that runs systematic matches between chess engines under controlled conditions. The lists cover both 40/40 (40 moves in 40 minutes) and blitz time controls, producing reliable comparative ratings for hundreds of engines.
For players and developers wanting to know how engines compare — and particularly for finding the strongest engines available at any point in time — CCRL is the standard reference. Results include Elo ratings, match records, and detailed head-to-head comparisons between engines. The ratings are widely used alongside the CCRL's sister lists (CEGT, SP-CC) to get a consensus view of engine strength.
The CCRL site is free to browse. It is particularly valuable for players trying to choose between engines for their own analysis, or for developers benchmarking new engine versions against established competitors.
