What is Grand Chess Tour?

The Grand Chess Tour (GCT) is a professional chess circuit featuring the world's top grandmasters competing across multiple elite events per year. The tour was founded in 2015 and typically includes tournaments in major cities including Saint Louis, Paris, and Zagreb, with the overall GCT standings determining a season champion.

The official website provides schedules, standings, and player profiles for the current and past seasons. During events, the site links to live coverage and broadcasts. The GCT includes both classical and rapid/blitz events, and participation is by invitation based on world ranking and GCT points.

The site is free to follow. The Grand Chess Tour brings together Magnus Carlsen, Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura, and other world-class players in a season-long format, making it the closest thing to a professional chess league at the top level.
