Unlike reading chess books in PDF or generic e-reader format, Forward Chess displays board positions interactively: tap any diagram to open a live board viewer, follow the moves of any variation, and toggle on engine analysis for any position — all without leaving the book.

The book catalogue covers titles from major chess publishers including Everyman Chess, Gambit Publications, New In Chess, and Quality Chess, spanning openings, strategy, tactics, endgames, and biographical titles. Books are purchased individually within the app.
