What is ChessVision.ai?

ChessVision.ai uses computer vision to extract chess positions from virtually any visual source — photographs of physical boards, screenshots of videos, images from chess books, or live screen captures — and converts them to FEN notation for immediate analysis or further use.

The browser extension is particularly popular: install it and you can click any chess board image or video frame on a website to instantly analyze the position in your preferred analysis tool. The iOS and Android apps let you point your phone camera at a physical chess board and get an immediate engine evaluation, which is useful during post-game analysis of OTB games without a computer.

ChessVision.ai offers a free tier for basic recognition tasks; a subscription unlocks higher usage limits and advanced features. The recognition accuracy on clean digital boards is very high; physical boards and printed images perform well but can occasionally require manual correction.
